#NoShippingNoShopping #ThankyouSeafarers Campaign

The #NoShippingNoShopping #ThankyouSeafarers campaign was launched by the Stella Maris Scalabrinian Network in June 25, 2022 to raise awareness about the essential role of seafarers in the global economy and to thank them for their service. The campaign has reached 2,087,547 of people around the world through social media and partnerships with the maritime industry and other stakeholders.

The campaign has had a significant impact in raising awareness about seafarers. The Stella Maris Scalabrinian Network data analysis has found that 80% of people reached were not aware of the importance of seafarers before the campaign. The campaign has also helped to change the public perception of seafarers, from being seen as anonymous workers to being recognized as essential contributors to the global economy.

The Scalabrinians have a long history of working with seafarers to provide pastoral care and support (Being faithful to the vision of Saint John Baptist Scalabrini). The #NoShippingNoShopping #ThankyouSeafarers campaign is a continuation of this work and is an opportunity to highlight the Scalabrinians' commitment to the welfare of the people of the sea.

The campaign has been supported by diverse members of the maritime industry and other stakeholders. At the same time, the campaign has also been supported by shipping companies, maritime schools, and other organizations that are involved in the welfare of the people of the sea.

The campaign is a timely initiative as it coincides with the International Day of the Seafarer, which is celebrated on June 25th each year. This year, the IMO looks at seafarers' contribution to protecting the marine environment, in line with the World Maritime theme “MARPOL at 50 – Our commitment goes on” to highlight the seafarers contribution to protecting the marine environment..

The #NoShippingNoShopping #ThankyouSeafarers campaign is a powerful tool to raise awareness about seafarers and their essential role in the global economy. The campaign is also an opportunity to thank seafarers for their service and to highlight the Scalabrinians' commitment to their welfare.
